Ad Bates is one of the too few remaining builders of our country, the U.S. He has worked the land all his life. He has fed his family by hunting. At 90 years old, he and his wife still grow a healthy garden. Ad was a neighbor of ours in the Skagit Valley. He helped us maintain our fields on his 80l tractor, and when he no longer felt comfortable using it, we purchased it from him. We now use it ourselves to clear the fields. The American farmer is a dying breed that I hope will see a revival.
