This grandmother and her grandson
look out through the window of their home, a nipa hut. They
live in the hills above Subic Bay in the Philippines. Subic
Bay was once a bustling $3 billion naval base which, within
a few months, turned into a ghost town following the U.S military
evacuation. The Aeta people of Pamulaklakin were left behind.
I was guided to their village by a man from JEST (Jungle Environmental
Survival Training), a group which had trained the U.S. military
in jungle survival. |
