The location of this encounter was near the border of China and northern Vietnam on the Gulf of Tonkin in the mid-90’s. It is an area of 1000’s of small limestone islands. This little girl navigated the waters around the small islands selling fresh seafood, and other local food items from a small fishing boat. She approached our boat filled with confidence, and her eyes were far older and wiser than her years. She is a survivor.
