This woman was going about her daily work at the Barkhor Bazaar, a typical Tibetan market. The Bazaar is found in the heart of Lhasa circling the Jokhang Temple, and it means “a pilgrim’s inner circuit.” It is the earliest street of old Lhasa City, which is sometimes called “the window of Tibet.” As she carries her sack of grain or rice, you can see the strain, but more importantly, you can see her perseverence. Throughout my visit with these remarkable people, one thing was clear—there is an amazing ability to survive. |
